Stuttgart. After the great success of the model car series of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Colour Package (Code: 01), Mercedes-Benz now brings out a limited edition of the G 500 4×4² in eight distinctive special colours.

With portal axles and a full 44 centimetres of ground clearance, the G 500 4×4² has been the highlight in the model program of the off-road icon since 2015. Even scaled down to 1:18, the extreme G has an imposing appearance. The G 500 4×4² is now available as a limited edition model car in the eight special colours; diamond white, electric beam, tektite grey, mauritius blue, sunset beam, alien green, tomato red and galactic beam. In line with the internal model code W 463, there are be exactly 463 copies of every colour – each numbered, i.e., “1 of 463”, “2 of 463”, etc., on the bottom of the each car.

The exclusive, resin-made miniatures were created in collaboration with the model car specialist GT Spirit, who Mercedes-Benz gave the original design data to for the development of these unique models. The level of detail is extremely high: for example, the 4×4² logo on the rim was implemented as true to the original vehicle as the perforated metal under the front apron. The eight miniature extreme G models consist of up to 100 parts and are outfitted with a number of special equipment.

The championship currently features 12 rounds on three continents, and Peugeot Sport is working closely with the promoter IMG to add rounds on the two remaining continents. The 2018 schedule will be announced soon.

Peugeot has been involved in the WRX since its launch in 2014 and is committed to supporting the E-WRX through its technological plan, which aims to make 80% of its models electric by 2023.

The E-WRX is a perfect fit for the strategy. Our ambassador, Sébastien Loeb, will play a key role in this exciting new adventure. Our objective for the 2018 season is to take home the title. That’s why we’re strengthening Peugeot Sport’s commitments and studying the sports management overseen by the Hansen family since 2014.”

Sébastien Loeb: “This is a great opportunity for me to try something new and ‘electrifying’, and to get even closer to my fans with the WRX. I’m really looking forward to discovering this new frontier for sports.”

Nissan South Africa sponsors karting day to raise funds for cheetah preservation

Zwartkops Kart Circuit will once again host the 9th annual Charity Cheetah Karting Day in aid of the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Center on Saturday, October 14. Nissan South Africa is partnering with the organization for the second year as the official partner in an effort to raise even more funds for the center. Last year’s event raised over R50,000.00.

The annual event pits local automotive organizations against each other in a fierce race on the karting track. Three Nissan SA teams will be joined by Jaguar Land Rover, Suzuki SA, Liqui-Moly SA, Motul Oil SA, Conti-Tech SA, Locost Racing, Snake Pit Racing, BESA Learning Academy and EV Dynamics. It’s not just fun for the drivers though. The whole family can enjoy PlayStation consoles while the teams race on track.

There will be a special appearance by Center ambassador cheetah, Yeats, who will personally thank each entrant for their generous contributions and participation during the awards ceremony. Also supporting the event will be RunRideDive, the event’s official photographers, as well as the team from Magnesium to help with all the design work for the day. Furthermore, the Voice of Motorsport, Roger McCleery, has once again donated his time to be the MC for the event, adding to what makes this event particularly special.

“We are very proud to once again be able to support the Ann Van Dyk Cheetah Center, as the center’s commitment to animal conservation in South Africa is a cause very close to our hearts at Nissan,” said Xavier Gobille, Nissan SA managing director of Marketing, Sales & Aftersales. “It’s not just a sponsorship opportunity for us, but an opportunity to contribute to the sustainable welfare of an inspirational animal in terms of speed and swiftness, which directly relates to our vision of being a competitive leader within the automotive industry.”

The funds are used to help the Center with various projects, where the educational program CHEETA, which visits schools, particularly in rural and under-privileged areas, in a bid to raise awareness about the importance of wildlife, the environment and recycling, is a particular focus area for the center.
