Renault SYMBIOZ: the vision of the future of mobility

  • A concept car that expresses Renault’s vision of autonomous, electric and connected mobility in the future.

  • Renault SYMBIOZ will be unveiled at a press conference at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show at 9:50am on Tuesday, September 12.

  • Renault continues innovative design approach.

Renault SYMBIOZ, an innovative concept to be unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show Sept 12, will be an opportunity for Renault to describe its vision of mobility by the year 2030. This new concept addresses customer expectations in the future related to mobility and lifestyle, as well as the environmental and urban challenges that lie ahead. It is also a way for Renault to explore autonomous, electric, connected mobility in the future.

The name Renault SYMBIOZ is derived from ‘sumbiōsis’, the Ancient Greek word for ‘living together’. Renault believes that the automobile of the future – embodied by its latest concept car – will function harmoniously and in permanent interaction with its environment, road network infrastructure and the digital lifestyles of its occupants. The letter ‘Z’ at the end refers to the all-electric Z.E. technology that powers the car.

Renault invites you to find out more about how it foresees the motoring ecosystem in the future at the 2017 Frankfurt Show where Thierry Bolloré, Chief Competitive Officer, Groupe Renault, and Laurens van den Acker, Senior Vice President, Corporate Design, will present Renault SYMBIOZ at a press conference on its stand in Hall 8, at 9:50am on Tuesday, September 12.

Groupe Renault celebrates 1,000,000th vehicle produced at the Tangier plant

  • The Tangier plant has produced its millionth vehicle, a Dacia Lodgy.
  • A landmark figure reached in just over five years following the plant’s inauguration in 2012.
  • The design of this efficient and eco-friendly plant, which is unrivalled in the automobile industry, is based on two pillars: zero CO2 emissions and zero industrial effluent discharges.

Groupe Renault is proud to be able to celebrate the production of the millionth vehicle at the Renault-Nissan plant in Tangier: a five-seat, Azurite Blue Dacia Lodgy powered by a diesel engine and sold to a customer in Turkey. In all, 474,840 Sanderos, 320,078 Dokkers and 193,181 Lodgys have been manufactured in Tangier since the plant’s inauguration in 2012. In addition to covering the Moroccan market, the models built at the factory are exported to more than 73 destinations.

The inauguration of the Tangier plant’s first production line in February 2012, in the presence of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI and Carlos Ghosn, CEO, Groupe Renault, and the launch of a second line in 2013, marked a turning point in Morocco’s automotive sector. Indeed, it was the birth of the biggest car manufacturing plant south of the Mediterranean.

Today, the plant operates in three eight-hour shifts per day, six days a week, with an annual production capacity of 340,000 vehicles. The Renault-Nissan Tangier plant, a main driver of the Moroccan economy, supports Dacia brand growth by exporting the majority of its production. Half of all Dacias are produced in Morocco at either the Tangier plant or at the SOMACA facility in Casablanca.

Groupe Renault implanted in Morocco since 1928 is the undisputed leader in the national market with its two brands, Dacia and Renault. 4 vehicles out of 10 sold in Morocco are sold by the Groupe Renault. The Renault plant in Casablanca (SOMACA) produces Renault models since 1966, and since 2005 for the Dacia models.

Renault unveils limited edition World Series Clio and Megane

renaultWith temperatures soaring already at Renault’s spectacular World Series at Silverstone last weekend, the French auto giant unveiled even hotter limited editions of their two hot hatches, the Clio and the Megane. Called the World Series special editions, these three cars (one Clio and two Meganes) with a lot of stylish go-faster bits lit up the 5.14km long circuit in front of a 100,000 strong crowd of spectators who had come to watch a thrilling weekend of action-packed racing that even included the 500hp Formula Renault 3.5 cars.

The three World Series versions are based on the most popular Dynamique trim level in the Clio, Megane Hatch and Coupe ranges, and add extra equipment with great cost savings for the customers. The Clio World Series builds on the already sporty Dynamique trim and adds an extended front spoiler, side skirts, a sporty bumper along with some WSR badging. As for the engine, Renault is offering an option between the 1.2-litre 16V 75 engine, the highly efficient 1.2-litre TCe 100, or the extremely frugal 1.5-litre dCi 86 engines.

The Megane Hatch World Series too is based on the Dynamique trim and this five-door car sports an extended front spoiler, Coupe-style bumper inserts, side skirts, sporty rear bumper, rear spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels. All this garnished with an adornment of WRS badging. Engine options of the Megane Hatch World Series include the 1.6-litre 16V 110 with variable valve timing or the 1.5-litre dCi 106, both coupled with a six-speed gearbox. Rounding off the World Series range is the Megane Coupe World Series that adds to the sleek design of the standard car with an extended front spoiler, side skirts, sports rear bumper and 17″ alloy wheels.
