BMW Announces new BMW M3 Edition Models

BMW is getting into the “special edition” game with its recently announced M3 Editions Models.

In a press release,BMW states, “On the BMW M3 Edition Models the exterior paintwork and interior design are individually matched to one another. Depending on the respective Edition model, the body comes either in Alpine White Non-Metallic, Black Non-Metallic, Dakar Yellow Non-Metallic or Monte Carlo Blue Metallic. The combination with BMW Individual High-Gloss Satin Chrome accentuates the truly sophisticated character of the Edition Models.”

I think Laguna Seca Blue would have been a better choice over Monte Carlo Blue.

The interiors of the respected cars will come only in black with body color matched door inserts, seat inserts, stitching and so on. Black and White cars will share the same interior.

While the M3 is no slouch, it doesn’t seem to be offering any new in the performance front. It retains its 420 horsepower V-8 and choice of either a six-speed manual or seven-speed M-Double Clutch Transmission.

However the suspension gets at least some attention. There is a .4 inch lowered body thanks to the tweaked suspension and 19” forged aluminum wheels. Though it might not seem like much, the reduction in overall center of gravity, as well as the wheels lower un-sprung weight, should slightly enhance its handling.

While this new edition is a great looking car, somebody looking for something “exclusive” factory car might want to go down to their local BMW dealer and special order a personalized M3 instead.
