The 2010 Mercury Mountaineer is a sports utility vehicle that can seat between 5 to 7 passengers, available in two models, an entry level model and a Premier Model. Both Mountaineer models are powered by a 4.0 Liter V6 engine rated at 210 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque.

The Premier model has a 4.6 Liter V8 engine that is rated at 292 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The model equipped with the V6 engine is powered by a five speed automatic transmission, while that with the V8 engine is powered by a six speed automatic transmission. Both engines are available with a choice between rear and all wheel drive. The fuel economy ratings of the Mountaineer are 13 miles per gallon on city roads and 20 miles per gallon on highways.

The 2010 Mountaineer entry level model is equipped with 17 inch tires, a power drivers seat that can be adjusted in 6 different ways, a cruise control system, all its accessories are fully powered, a steering wheel that has tilt and is wrapped in leather, a music system with a CD player and a jack that allows one to play other music formats. Optional equipment with the 2010 Mountaineer entry level model is a split seat at the back that can be folded, seats made of leather and a driver’s seat that is powered and can be adjusted in 10 different ways.

The 2010 Mountaineer Premier model is equipped with all the entry level models optional equipment and adds a third row seat that can be folded using power, a drivers seat that is powered and can be adjusted in 6 different ways, running boards that can be deployed using power, a system that aids navigation and a entertainment system at the back that is DVD based.

The 2010 Mercury Mountaineer is equipped with anti-lock disc brakes, a system to control stability and make sure that the vehicle does not roll over and airbags that are mounted on the front seat. There is plenty of room in the Mountaineer even with three rows of seats, as two adults can sit comfortably in the third row if one is traveling on short distances. There is 83.7 cubic feet of cargo space in Mountaineers that seat 7 while those that seat 5 can store 85.8 cubic feet.
