THE NEW FIAT 500L

THE NEW FIAT 500L

THE NEW FIAT 500L

Having uncontestably led its segment for five years, here comes the new Fiat 500L. By capitalising on the features which have cemented it’s European dominance and constantly rising market leadership, the roomiest 500 of all is now even more full of technology and connected, and has even more character and personality. These characteristics thrive and combine in the three personalities of the car: Urban, Cross and Wagon.

The 500 style is even more obvious in this updated version, on which 40% of all components are new. It was designed to reinforce the family feeling of the model by emphasising its key stylistic characteristics, for a highly distinctive identity. The 500L successfully combines best-in-class versatility with genuine 500 values and distinctive features. These alone are sufficient to make it unique, but are complemented even further by the typical 500 flair: the 500L combines all the style and excitement of the 500 with the spaciousness and functionality of an MPV. City streets worldwide are the natural habitat of the iconic Fiat and the 500L combines its famed compact style with the crossover look of the new Cross version. It features a Mode Selector for choosing three different response modes according to driving style and road conditions: Normal, Traction+ and Gravity Control. Everyone who chooses to drive the new 500L, on city streets or rough terrain alike, has the same, very current need: to stay connected, share the thrills of the journey, communicate, listen to their favourite music and receive traffic and weather information in real time. In the 500L you can do this and more while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road using UconnectTM HD Live with 7-inch high-resolution touchscreen, Apple Car Play integration and Android AutoTMcompatibility.

The Cross version adds a new dimension to the personality of the 500L. In addition to the Mode Selector, the adventure-loving character of the car is emphasised by specific equipment, 25 mm more ground clearance and style details delivering a genuine crossover look: new bumper design, new side protections and new front and rear skid plates. The Cross is accompanied by the purest of city versions, Urban, and the Wagon, in which roominess and versatility are taken to the highest levels with seven, fully reconfigurable seats.

These are not just three versions; they are three authentic identities, created to delight different people and serve different needs. All three share outstanding safety features, such as Autonomous City Brake, the automatic braking system operating in cities at speeds under 30 km/h, and the largest boot in its class. The internal configuration is also extremely flexible, enabling customers to create up to 1,500 internal customisations. Exclusive packs, developed ad hoc, also enable every customer to customise his or her 500L by enhancing its style, connectivity, comfort and safety features. Petrol, LPG, methane and diesel engines, delivering up to 120 HP, paired with five or six speed manual or Dualogic robotic automatic transmissions are available across the range.

New Alfa Romeo 149 Spied Winter Testing

2010-alfa-romeo-149

Alfa Romeo will replace its ging 147 hatchback with two seperate models. The 3-door version is being replaced by a little sport-hatch known as the Junior, of which we’ve seen spy shots. The 5-door will be replaced by an entirely different model, likely to be labeled 149, but this is the first time we’ve seen it.
While the 3-door will be based on the Fiat Grande Punto, the 149 shares its platform with the larger Fiat Bravo. The car in the spy shot is wearing mostly Bravo bodywork, but a sharp eye will notice the trademark Alfa grille up front. Engine options will likely include a range of Fiat Group powerplants from the T-Jet and M-Jet series, and could include a 265-hp V6 for the GTA version.
The 149 will hit European markets with a €20 000 base price sometime in mid 2009 after the Junior becomes available this coming October.

Fiat 500 Abarth

Fiat has just released the first official pictures of the Abarth version of its popular 500 mini hatch. The pictures show the 500 with a full bodykit consisting of a new front spoiler, side skirts, and rear bumper with a diffuser. Black, Scorpion-emblazoned 5-spoke wheels with silver and red accents complete the hot hatch’s design while the Abarth shield adorns the nose, rear quarters, and hatchback lid. Flashes of red make their way onto the rearview mirrors, brake calipers, and side stripes, too. Inside, the leaked cutaway drawing shows us read seats with matching door panel inserts.
The 1.4-liter gas engine gets a turbo to bump the power from 100 bhp to 155 bhp at 5500 rpm. That 55% increase in power pushes the 0-to-62 mph time down to 8.2 seconds.
The hot hatch will likely be one of the stars of the show when the doors are opened in Geneva.

Fiat Launches the Fiat Punto Grande in India

punto 2The car will be jointly produced with Tata Motors and is very reasonably priced between Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 6.11 lakh rupees. The petrol versions will have 1.2L and 1.4L engines, while the diesel variant has a 1.3L multijet diesel engine. The launch also follows close on the heels of the launch of the Honda Jazz in India. Evidently small is in, and car manufacturers are prepping for the Tata Nano’s arrival in stores.

The Fiat Punto Grande is a 2005 model and was announced at the India Auto Expo in New Delhi in January 2009. Fiat’s premium model, the Fiat Linea has been selling well in India. The car has a high safety rating in European tests, and conforms to the Euro IV emission standards. It bears a Straight-4 engine, in which all four cylinders in the internal combustion engine are mounted in a straight line on the crankshaft, making it cheaper to manufacture and well-suited for small cars. Unfortunately, it also leads to noise and vibrations in smaller cars as the cylinders are not well-balanced, without a more complex design. By Fiat’s announcement, the expected mileage is 22.3kpl for the 90bhp and 21.2kpl for the 75bhp engine.

“The launch of Grande Punto marks a new milestone for Fiat in India as we bring the quintessentially Italian designs to Indian shores,” Fiat India official said
