New C3 Aircross Compact Suv Shortlisted for the 2018 Autobest Competition

New C3 Aircross has just been selected for the 2018 final of the prestigious election AUTOBEST. The jury chose six models ahead of the final test drives at the Vairano track in Italy. Citroën C3 Aircross will compete against the other models in the running for one last time.

Every year since 2001, Autobest has awarded a “Best Car” prize to the model amassing the most points and considered as the best buy. Submitted to the vote of 31 motoring journalists from 31 European countries, the cars are assessed on the basis of 13 criteria, including quality for money, design, comfort and technology as well as services and spare parts availability in the distribution networks.

New Citroën C3 Aircross Compact SUV rose above the rest of the competition in the 2018 election to become one of the six finalists. The winning model will be announced on 15 December 2017 following the comparative track tests at Vairano in Italy and a final voting session.

First Development Tests For The Citroën C3 R5!

First Development Tests For The Citroën C3 R5!

First Development Tests For The Citroën C3 R5!

Since 2013, the R5 regulations devised by the FIA have led to the appearance of a new generation of rally cars. Designed for private teams and drivers, these reduced-cost products are often described as “mini-WRCs” due to their technical characteristics: four-wheel drive, 1.6-litre direct injection turbo engine generating about 280bhp, sequential semi-automatic gearbox, etc.

The success enjoyed by the category also comes down to its universal appeal: the R5s compete in the WRC 2, the ERC and in most of the national championships. The cornerstone of the renewed customer racing line-up at Citroën Racing, the C3 R5 will shortly be ready for competitive action!

First Development Tests For The Citroën C3 R5!

“We are reaching an important milestone this week with the first development tests of the car, which is already close to the finished product,” explained Yves Matton, Citroën Racing Team Principal. “The specifications given to the technical teams are clear: we want the Citroën C3 R5 to set new standards in the category, in terms of performance, reliability and controlled operating costs. In order to create an entirely new product, we used all of Citroën Racing’s experience in the WRC, adding contributions from leading technical suppliers such as Sadev for the transmission and Reiger for the suspension systems. Our works drivers will also be taking part in development of the car: Stéphane Lefebvre and Craig Breen are driving in this first session, along with Yoann Bonato, the current leader of the French Rally Championship.”

Design work on the Citroën C3 R5 began about a year ago. In addition to the work done in the design and calculation office, most of the mechanical components have been tested in real conditions, on test mules driven since the start of 2017.

“For the first outing of the full car, we are already pretty close to the definition that will be offered to customers. The sessions are being held on gravel, on sufficiently varied road surfaces to test the car’s robustness and begin fine-tuning the basic set-up,” explained Pierre Budar, Development Director, Customer Racing Vehicles. “There is a direct link between the C3 R5 and the C3 WRC: for example, the roll cage of the two cars was designed by the same engineer. Some solutions have been re-used, whilst adapting them to the constraints of the regulations and small-scale production. Similarly, the engine has been developed in-house, based on the unit used on the production model, therefore providing the greatest potential in terms of performance and reliability. We have also chosen to work together with the best suppliers. Overall, we have an even, consistent product, capable of meeting the goals of the customers that choose the Citroën C3 R5.”

First Development Tests For The Citroën C3 R5!

Following these first test sessions, Citroën Racing will be pursuing development of the C3 R5 on both gravel and tarmac, calling upon various drivers with different profiles in order to achieve a genuinely versatile product. FIA homologation is scheduled for 2018.

Citroën C-aircross Concept

CITROËN C-AIRCROSS CONCEPT

C-Aircross Concept is a modern and spacious SUV which thrives in both cities and large open spaces. With its internationally styled silhouette, it is a foresight into the Citroën offensive into the European SUV segment. The unique personality of C-Aircross follows in the footsteps of New C3 which launched in January.

MODERN & COLOURFUL

The design of C-Aircross Concept is both assertive and colourful. Its silhouette is visually enhanced by protections that surround the lower part of the body.

The Citroën style teams have combined flowing lines with the attributes of an SUV, on a silhouette with compact dimensions: length: 4.15m, width: 1.74m, height: 1.63m.

ROBUST FRONT

In terms of style, C-Aircross Concept is different at first glance because of its short and high perched bonnet and its sturdy, but non-aggressive front. A unique expression in the highly codified world of the SUV.

3D REAR LIGHTS

The rear of C-Aircross is equally assertive in terms of style. The C-Aircross concept has marked supports highlighting 3D vehicle rear lights with three highly technological floating light rings on each side of the vehicle.

AERODYNAMIC B PILLARS

A true signature of the concept are the two B pillars. These allow light to flood into the cabin through high graphical contrast aerodynamic shutters.

REFINED AND GRAPHIC INTERIOR

On board, Citroën designers have opted for a bodybuilded aerial instrument panel without a handset to create an interior architecture which creates the feeling of fluidity, modernity and space.

In addition to a single-spoke steering wheel with simplified controls, a wink to the brands history, the dashboard accommodates a “head-up” display assembling important driving information within the driver’s field of vision.

SEATS INSPIRED BY THE WORLD OF BEDDING

Four seats with soft, enveloping shapes! At the front as well as at the back the wide sofa seats are covered with padded affect embossed Alcantara materials and techniques.

In addition to their high-quality, both natural and rewarding, they offer unique comfort. Inspired by the world of bedding they adapt to the posture of your body.

A FUN SPIRIT

C-Aircross concept doesn’t just have an SUV look; It also offers true ride comfort.

Designed for daily urban trips and mountain or seaside escapes with family and friends, it incorporates a “Grip Control” wheel on the centre console and is above all, versatile.

2010 Citroen C3 unveiled

2010-citroen-c3-1

The all new 2010 Citroen C3 is now officially revealed by the French automaker showing off a striking design and many new features. The new generation C3 is far more aggressive than previous model which was literally an egg! It is pretty funky as all Citroens are, but because of some nice detailing it looks very elegant, which is a rare treat in the world of small hatchbacks.
The old C3 has always been in the shadow of names like Peugeot 207 and Renault Clio and even it’s smaller brother the C2, but the new model seems to have everything it needs to change this. It appeals to both male and female customers. In front, the shape of headlights and that amazing grille are all very aggressive and sporty, while at the back those Boomerang shaped tail lights give it a nice cutesy look. You also get a lot of chrome straps here and there which again, is a very nice touch.
But the most striking feature of the 2010 Citroen C3 should be the new panoramic windshield called Zenith which is an optional extra. This innovation was first seen in the previous generation of the Opel Astra some years ago. New C3 is also improved inside the cabin, where its extra 8cm length than the old model translates into greater comfort for passengers and bigger luggage space. It is also very well equipped, you even get a full navigation system with RD4  radio and MP3 audio system and USB ports.
As for the engines, at launch it’ll be available with a 1.6 liter HDi diesel developing 90 hp and CO2 level of only 99g/km, a 1.4 liter VTi petrol with 95 hp, a 1.6 liter petrol with 120 hp and at the top of the range a 110 hp HDi engine. Form 2011 a new range of petrol and diesel engines, plus the Start/Stop system will be added.
New Citroen C3 will debut at IAA this September.
